Xavi Navarro
Born in Barcelona and raised in Olot, I've been interested in travelling since I was a child, when every Summer I crossed Spain from coast to coast with my parents. Listening to my siblings' stories about their trips all over the world also helped, as well as watching Around the World with Willy Fog on TV :)
As I grew up, and while I was still studying, I started independent travelling together with my friends mostly around Europe. During Summers, I usually went to Copenhagen to work in a restaurant one month and make some money to travel the following month. Then, during the year, I was also travelling as often as I could, though on shorter trips.
By that time I had already realised the travel bug had already bitten me, so instead of killing it I decided to feed it a bit more and after having finished my studies I started making the budget for a quite big trip. I moved to Kiruna (Sweden) to work as a guide and after a couple of months back to Copenhagen for a year. With the money raised, I set off with a friend of mine accross Asia, starting with the Trans-Siberian railway and continuing into China, Mongolia, Hong-Kong, Macao, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Brunei and Malaysia, so it was like a half round-the-world trip.
Back in Barcelona I started working as an English teacher (my official job) but got tired of stable life in the city so, after having visited a few countries in the world but still with a lot of places to see and the travel bug annoying me, I decided to complete the round-the-world trip and started saving some money again. Three years in Barcelona working as a teacher (and travelling as much as my job allowed me too) and half a year in Kiruna as a dogsledding guide helped me raise some savings for this Earthlooping project, which is supposed to make me complete the whole round-the-world as Willy Fog did.
